I’ve gone onto a couple of big corporation’s websites and went to their career sections. Really there isn’t anything there other then sales positions. And even though I am a stellar salesman, its not what I went to school for. And we all know how bad the economy is right now… no one is buying things. What I have found out though, is I will have to go back to school for certifications. Maybe if I get a couple extra letters after my name besides BA, I might get a little more attention.
I am losing some skills though. I’ve notice that I’m becoming more like a mechanic every day. For those of you that don’t know.. that’s what I do currently. I keep learning new things about fixing vehicles and its taking me away from the knowledge I gained from college. I’m afraid the longer it takes for me to get a job that I want, the less prepared I will be for it. But, I don’t want to take anything that would pay me less than what I make now, nor take something that’s not in my discipline. Its a catch 22. So, when I come home from a 10hr day, I sit here at the computer and look for jobs and read tutorials for 3-4 hrs a night. It makes for a really long day. Hopefully it all pays off in the end.
You’re a smart self starting guy. I could see you running your own business of some sort more than going back to school to get more book smart.
Let me know what you’re looking to do. Maybe i can connect you with someone in the right direction.
Or trade skills as well. If you’re interested in web design stuff i’m looking to learn to fix up my own car.
Just some random thoughts.
